Fitzhugh Park
Fitzhugh Park is located directly in front of Fitzhugh Park School, named
after Henry Fitzhugh. Fitzhugh, called "one of the most prominent men Oswego ever
claimed as a citizen", influenced the city greatly during his lifetime. While
serving as both mayor from 1859 until 1862 and as the Canal Commisioner in 1852
and 1855, Fitzhugh also served as a member of the Assembly in 1849: his memory
lives on in the park. Featuring a large playground and basketball court, Fitzhugh
Park is the perfect place to bring an active child. |
