Oswego is known as the Port City of Central New York.  Its beautiful waterfront is complemented by the maritime theme found throughout the city. Our many parks afford a panoramic view of Lake Ontario, and we offer a beautifully preserved historical site at Fort Ontario. 

While you’re here, you can visit some of our unique shops or just relax by the water and feel the refreshing lake breeze. You should also stay and witness one of our astonishing sunsets.  Experience the friendly people of Oswego as you stroll through our city that incorporates several centuries of history and architecture.  

Oswego is centrally located in New York State, making it convenient to all markets in the Northeastern United States and Canada. We boast a diverse industrial base and a New York State Empire Zone designation, making Oswego attractive to business.
The State University of New York at Oswego offers outstanding educational opportunities as well as a large venue of cultural and entertainment attractions.
Sailing, power boating, world class sports fishing, hiking and bicycling are activities that are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Our nearby sandy beaches all combine to make Oswego a great recreational destination for families everywhere.
Every year, the city hosts the Oswego Harborfest.  This is a four-day festival of music, culture and food, centered around the Oswego Harbor, culminating in a fireworks display on the Saturday evening of the festival. The event is sponsored by local businesses, and the entertainment admission is free. The festival continues to draw approximately 150,000 to 300,000 attendees every year and is considered to be one of the best festivals in the entire United States.  If you’re a racing enthusiast, chart your course to the famous Oswego Speedway, which offers short-track supermodified racing every Saturday night during the summer months.

Aside from its sights and activities, Oswego’s greatest attraction  is its people.  They are hard-working men and women who are dedicated to preserving the charm, history, and beauty of this unique city.
