The following offices offer assistance that can be helpful to your business. Community Development Office: The City's Community Development Office offers business training, commercial and micro-enterprise loan programs, and technical assistance to all businesses located within the city. It also administers an Economic Development Zone Program which offers special incentives to businesses with new or expanding locations in the Empire Zone. Contact Mary Vanouse @ 343-3795, or stop by the office on the third floor of the Conway Municipal Building, 20 West Onieda Street in downtown Oswego.City Clerk's Office: The office of the City Clerk issues licenses for auctions, solid waste (trash) collecting, junkyards, peddling and soliciting, pet shops, taxi cabs, theaters, and going out of business. Contact Deputy City Clerk Emily Bradshaw, @ 342-8116 for more information.Zoning and Planning Office: As a new business you will need to see which Zoning laws apply to your business. Is your location zoned for business? Do you need a sign permit? Contact Zoning Enforcement Office @ 342-8157 or pay a visit to City Hall's third floor offices.Code Enforcement Office: Does your business fit the building you're interested in? Will it pass the building and safety codes? Call Neal Smith, Director of Code Enforcement @ 342-8163, or stop by City Hall's basement offices.Oswego Fire Department: All businesses must have a fire prevention inspection before opening, and reinspection every two years thereafter. Establishments which have areas of public assembly must be inspected for occupancy loads before opening and anually thereafter. Visit the County Clerk's Office @ 46 East Bridge Street to file your DBA.Mayor's Office and Common Council: Mayor Randolph F.
