Housing Rehabilitation Program | Oswego New York Skip to main content

The program offers housing rehabilitation for income eligible individuals and families of existing single family owner-occupied homes in the City of Oswego.  Heating, plumbing, electrical, roofing, carpentry, masonry, insulation, replacement windows and doors and exterior painting are examples of the scopes of work accomplished through the program.

Income eligibility for program participants is based on 80% of HUD area median income limits for your family size.  Eligible participants must also have all property taxes (city, county and school), water and sewer fees, and home owners insurance current.

The amount of grant assistance varies based on the type of work necessary to bring the home up to minimum housing rehab standards.  The grants are secured as a second mortgage on the property for a period of 10 years.  If you move or sell the home the grant must be repaid to the City on a pro rata basis.

The City of Oswego Community Development Office has provided Housing Rehabilitation throughout the community since 1975 with funding from state and federal block grant programs.
